The 2014 Game Career Guide is out!
The annual Game Career Guide, by Gamasutra’s sister site of the same name, is a great magazine-style PDF. The 2014 edition is very indie-focused, with articles on going indie and getting funding, a great list of free development tools, and the benefits of making games before (and after) you land your first job. There are articles on 2D animation, creating games in Unity, and of course, portfolio and job-hunting tips. Finally, there is some discussion of schools, in an article and breakdown chart of schools with game-specific degrees (If you’re considering a game degree, though, this video discussing them is the must-watch.)
