Pixel Prospector.com: The Indie Goldmine might very well not be overselling itself
Normally I don’t link to indie-specific stuff because there are already so many excellent indie sites out there, but I’d never heard of this one and it’s probably the most useful I’ve seen. It’s got a ton of resources on every aspect of indie development, from free software to article collections and tutorials to marketing and publishing advice.
Creating your own games is generally regarded as one of the better ways to get a leg up on applying around the industry (especially for designers and programmers, since building a portfolio is a much less natural step for them than the various artists), so if it’s something you’re even considering, this is a great website to take a look at.
Oh, and maybe go here before you finalize your game idea, too.
