MIT’s “Introduction to Computer Science and Programming,” and other Python links
This playlist is the full series of lectures from MIT’s introductory Python class, which, if you’re not familiar with it, is probably the friendliest language ever (no personal bias there, I’m sure), extensively documented, and well-suited to 2D game development.
If you don’t have Python installed, you can get it here. And, while you’re at it, you can check out Pygame, which as you might have guessed, makes Python much more game-programming friendly. The Pygame website in particular also has a huge community and library of projects, tools, and other resources to make life easier.
